In 1953 Jonas Salk announced success in developing a vaccine to prevent polio in children. Field tests showed the vaccine worked and side affects were acceptable. 35,000 new cases were being reported annually at that time.

Four years after its use began the annual number of new cases of polio had dropped to 5,600! That is an 84% reduction!

Today’s FDA approval process can last 15+ years. That denies terminally ill patients any chance to try new drugs showing promise as a cure or a life extension.

Here’s the question: Can’t folks who have exhausted every treatment option to no avail be allowed to try the experimental (not yet approved) drug since they have no other hope of staying alive?

President Trump believes Americans do have a right to try experimental drugs when the only alternative is death. Last week he signed an Executive Order granting that right.

This kind of common-sense compassion contrasts sharply with the heartless bureaucracy of the Democrat Liberals.
