WHAT DOES “NET NEUTRALITY” MEAN?

You can’t swing a dead cat without hitting someone ranting about “Net Neutrality”!

Q: What is it?

A: Net neutrality laws prohibit internet service providers (such as Verizon and Comcast) from offering differentiated service to content providers (such as Google and Facebook).

In other words the crucial, fundamental elements of a healthy free market economy (discounts and premium offerings) are banned. It’s like a law that says you have to pay sticker price for a new car. Net neutrality discourages innovation and competition.

The best way to support a free market economy is to be free to offer something your competitor does not such as premium services or low-cost services. Net neutrality laws ban all such activity.

Obama’s net neutrality laws were, like his health care program, just a way to give more power and control to the government.

Good bye net neutrality! And good riddance!
