In a move seemingly designed to hurry Al Franken along on his road to resignation, Minnesota’s governor announced the name of the person who will fill the Senate seat.

Very Liberal Franken will be replaced (if he ever actually resigns) by a very Liberal woman who currently serves as the state’s Lt. Governor. Her name is Tina Smith, pictured below with the Governor.

Tina will be the 22nd female Senator in the 115th Congress, and the 17th Democrat. That will mean 44% of America’s serving Senators are females, and 34% are female Democrats.

Tina says she will push for “economic opportunity (maybe tax reform?); workplace fairness (maybe protection from people like her predecessor?); public school funding; early education funding; and expanded health care coverage (maybe Obamacare?).” 

It is not known if Tina has been associated with disgraced soon-to-be-former Senator Al Franken.

Outgoing Sen. Franken (shown below at his former job) has not announced his career plan for the future.
