“RINO” is an acronym for Republican In Name Only.
Some politicians run for office as Republicans, and get elected as such, only to use their power to oppose issues supported by Republican voters, or to promote issues opposed by Republican voters.
Some appropriate synonyms for “RINO” are: Fink; Rat; Impostor; Fraud; Pretender; Betrayer; and [expletive deleted].
The following is a specific, current report about a RINO in-action.
The Governor of Illinois, Bruce Rauner (R), recently signed House Bill 40 into law. The bill authorizes the use of tax dollars to fund abortions for Medicaid (welfare) mothers-to-be.
Leading up to the vote the Illinois Governor said he opposed the bill because of “sharp divisions of opinion”.
The Republican narrative is pro-life/anti-abortion-on-demand.
So, when you research a candidate’s position on the issues do not put too much stock in the capital letter “R” following their name. Not everyone who gets elected by claiming to be a Republican favors Free Enterprise; Limited Government; Individual Freedom; Traditional American Values; Strong National Defense; Strict Immigration Laws; and faithful adherence to The Constitution.
