In a Representative Republic, like the United States of America, one of the most vital indicators of the will, the pursued desire, of the people, is a Free Press.

For many decades the American press served as the objective, apolitical, investigator and reporter of public sentiment and current events.

Albert Camus said this: “A free press can, of course, be good or bad, but, most certainly, without freedom it will never be anything but bad.”

In our day the phrase, “The Press”, has been largely  replaced by, ” The Media”. No longer limited to just newspapers, the popular phrase “Mainstream Media” adds broadcast communications like television, radio, and internet broadcasting.

Camus was right. The Mainstream Media (MSM) has become subservient to the political leanings of the owners of the particular outlet.

The New York Times, for example, is strongly biased in-favor of Leftist politics. NYT journalists  are not motivated to investigate and expose all the news. They submit only reports which fit the political guidelines of their editors. For example, on the question of “Sanctuary Cities”, the Times supports open defiance of existing immigration laws. They consistently advocate for resistance against administration efforts to enact and enforce new, tougher laws meant to solve the problem of homeland terrorism. All Leftist media give the distinct impression that Sanctuary Cities are what the American people want when, in-fact, 3 of 4 states are seeking the elimination of such policy.

So, be careful what you accept as reality.
