“GOOD” (?) FRIDAY

Here’s why Christian tradition (not binding Biblical doctrine) has designated the Friday before Easter “Good Friday”.
Agree with it or not, the irreducible basis of Christianity is this:
A: God is the one and only true God. He is the creator, sustainer, and giver of all life.
B: All humans are obligated by God to follow his rules.
C: God’s prescribed punishment for failure to follow his rules is death.
D: No one is able to follow God’s rule perfectly so everyone is condemned to die.
E: One way exists for a person to be delivered from death.
F: The guilty verdict which every human has must be satisfied because God’s justice is perfect… no failure to obey is overlooked.
G: God has provided a substitute person who endures the death penalty of others. That substitute person is Jesus Christ. (Jesus is one of God’s three-in-one identifiable persons…Father, Son, and Holy Spirit).
H: If Jesus does not die on a person’s behalf that person will not enjoy eternal life after their time on Earth is exhausted.
I: The death of Jesus Christ is the only way anyone can obtain an eternal life of perfect peace with God in Heaven.
J: The Bible documents the events of the death of Jesus Christ. Once killed Jesus remained in his grave (tomb) for three days, after which he came back to life and rose from the grave. The wages of sin (disobedience) were now paid for all who come to Jesus for deliverance!
K: So, traditionally, Christianity has observed one particular Sunday as the anniversary of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is called Easter Sunday.
L: Going back three days prior to the resurrection we come to the day that is memorialized as Good Friday, the day Jesus Christ died on behalf of all those who come to him for sanctuary.
That is why today is Good Friday.
And that is why Christians celebrate victory over death by the death of Jesus Christ. Snag a King James Bible and look into it yourself for more information. “Seek ye the LORD while he may be found.”
