CELEBRATE CIVIL RIGHTS FOR ALL RACES

Today we should remember the not-so-distant past when America was segregated.

Today every law-abiding American citizen, regardless of biological social or philosophical classification, enjoys the rights delineated in the Constitution.

Our nation repented and turned from one of her wicked ways. We stopped denying certain Americans their civil rights simply because they were Black. It was a proud moment in our history when segregation was set aside in favor of the dignity of the individual citizen.

Many hundreds of people, of both high and low profile, suffered to bring about the end of segregation. Of all those individuals who fought against segregation not one can stand in place of The Idea itself.

Today should be Civil Rights Day, or Desegregation Day, not MLK Day. The Idea, the Dream, of desegregation is untarnished, pure, and wholly honorable. Such cannot be said for Rev. King, or any other of the valiant fighters against segregation.

Our children should be taught to revere and commorate an Idea, a Dream, not a person.
