BIG DAY IN D.C.

Today the Senate begins hearings for Trump’s cabinet picks.

There are 52 Republican Senators, 46 Democrats, and 2 Independents (both of which usually side with Democrats).

Here’s the Senate process in a nutshell:

Step 1:Trump makes his selections. Done.

Step 2: Background checks by the FBI and Ethics Dept. Done.

Step 3:Individual interviews by relevant Senate committee who then recommend candidate to the full Senate with one of three possible recommendations: 1) Favorable; 2) Unfavorable; 3) No Recommendation. Begin today.

Step 4:A vote by the full Senate. Historically there is no opposition and the nominee is easily confirmed but any opposition can delay the vote (delay is limited to 30-hours by “Cloture” process). A vote of 51 or more in favor is required to confirm. Hopefully soon.

Democrats can make the process smooth sailing, or they can stall things as much as the law allows, but eventually each nominee will be voted upon.

If the DNC has their way the process will likely be drawn-out to make Trump/Pence look weak. ( Maybe if the DNC looks at the map below they will realize The People [per The Constitution]  expressed their desire on Nov. 8, 2016 and will then choose to make the confirmations smooth and easy.)
