OBAMA STRUGGLES TO CREATE IMAGE

To promote his image as “The Environmental President” Obama may impose a ban on oil and gas exploration/production in Arctic waters. While such an act would likely boost his image amongst Jill Stein’s Treehuggers, it would hamper making America great again.

The Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act of 1953 says the president “may, from time to time, withdraw” federal waters from oil and gas development that are not already leased.

Some say not to worry because any ban Barack Hussein imposes can be easily reversed by a subsequent President. A 1996 law, part of Newt Gingrich’s “Contract with America,” allows lawmakers to overturn rules recently issued by a previous president with approval from both chambers of Congress and the consent of the new president.
