PATRIOTISM OR SPECIAL INTERESTS ON BROADWAY?

“There are seasons in every country when noise and impudence pass current for worth; and in popular commotions especially, the clamors of interested and factious men are often mistaken for patriotism.” –Alexander Hamilton
Friday night in NYC the current Broadway performance of HAMILTON! was interrupted several times by “interested and factious men” (THE CAST!) to castigate VP-elect Mike Pence with “noise and impudence”.
The cast used their bully pulpit ($140-200 per seat) to express their fear that diversity and illegal immigration will be unprotected, even outlawed, by Trump/Pence.
Protesters chanted and waved signs saying “Immigrants- we get the job done!”
Some in the audience booed Pence and applauded the cast for acting out.
Hamilton was correct. Apparently this is a “season in our country when noise and impudence pass for worth”.
