CHRISTMAS POST (3 OF 7) –WHAT?

In Christmas post 2 of 7 it was confirmed that the proper celebration of Christmas is focused on a person. That person is Jesus Christ who is God the Son, fully human and fully God.
Now we look at what exactly is commemorated in the proper (Biblical) observation of the Christmas celebration.
There is much to celebrate about the Lord Jesus Christ, but the Biblical Christmas tradition focuses on remembering the birth of Jesus.
For Christians the possibility of being saved from their sin (disobedience of God’s expressed will) lies in having their death sentence being legally transferred to another person who willingly endures the punishment (death) specified in the judgment against them.
The Bible declares that all humans are spiritually dead because of their sins. Thus the problem: if a person is dead they cannot pay the price for salvation, which is death. Being dead a person cannot die. Someone who is alive must suffer death in the place of one who is to be saved (born again). No person can do anything, or even contribute anything, to save themselves.
God is one God with three personages. There is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Of these three only God the Son, Jesus Christ, took upon himself human form as flesh and blood. Only Jesus had biological life, so only he could die. The Father and the Holy Spirit cannot die.
Since flesh and blood bodies, as we know them, cannot exist in Eternity (Heaven), Jesus had to leave Heaven and come to Earth in order to save his people from their sins.
What Christians rightly celebrate and commemorate at Christmas is the fact that God the Son left the perfection of Heaven to come and dwell among us here on Earth. He did it to save his people from death (Hell).
The Christian (Biblical) gospel is good news. It declares to all mankind that salvation is possible.
Christmas is a time of remembering and rejoicing about what Jesus Christ has done for his people.
