“All the news that’s fit to print” apparently includes the following quote from a recent issue of the NYT:
“The obesity rate for those ages 2 to 19 is at 17%, the same as 2003-04. It is more than encouraging to see that childhood obesity rates are no longer rising,— Debra Eschmeyer, executive director of Michelle Obama’s anti-obesity campaign.

Childhood obesity rates have not increased for the last 12 years. Why is that reason to be encouraged about Mrs. Obama’s campaign which has only been in effect since 2012?

In fact, the $500 million anti-obesity campaign is being called a failure, in a new study that suggests the 3-year initiative is simply not working.

UPDATE Nov.16,2015 From BBC report: “Obesity rates are rising again among American adults, despite national efforts to promote healthy lifestyles. Rates of obesity had been climbing dramatically since the 1980s but started levelling off in about 2004. This latest study means they are rising again – to nearly 38% in 2013-14, up from about 32% a decade ago. The numbers come from a new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, using a national survey of about 5,000 people.”
