Why do Democrats categorically oppose strengthening election integrity laws?
They call such efforts “voter suppression”.
In Arizona the State Senate just passed a law that obligates the County Recorder to cancel a voter’s eligibility in their former county whenever that voter registers in a different county. The idea being that one person cannot vote in two, or more, different counties… one person, one vote! The vote was split on party lines 4-3, the Republicans prevailed.
Why do Democrats object to allowing a voter to vote only once? Do they want voters to be able to vote multiple times? That would not be proper.
Another new law says residents who receive a ballot in the mail addressed to a person not residing at that address must report that information to the County Recorder. Why did Democrats vote against that bill? Do they want a voter’s ballot sent to addresses where the voter no longer resides? That would not be proper.
A third new law makes it a Class 5 felony for a person to knowingly vote in more than one place. Why did Democrats oppose that law? Do they want people to vote more than once? That would not be proper.
Other similar laws were opposed by the Democrats on the subcommittee. For some reason the Democrats want little-to-no control of ballots.
