Should schools open for business as usual?

The American Academy of Pediatrics has put all their influence behind the idea that,  “all policy considerations for the coming school year should start with a goal of having students physically present in school.”

The teachers unions  argue that video conference schooling is necessary to protect students and teachers until “adequate” personal protection is achieved. In other words they say current facilities and procedures are unsafe for humans, especially for teachers? Based upon the union leader’s training in… health care?… they proclaim the return to normal schooling is too dangerous .

Hmm. Medical doctors who specialize in young people’s health care say the threat to kids (Covid19) is not sufficient to warrant continuing alternate methods of schooling.

Ignoring the medical professional recommendations the unions are demanding $117 billion in federal taxpayer funding, or else “school buildings will stay shuttered and America’s families will endure another academic year of at-home learning,”  That sounds like an extortion demand!
