One journalist has used interviews with BLM organizers to determine what the organization is really hoping to achieve. Here are the main goals of the group known as Black Lives Matter:

— Reparations for environmental racism, slavery, food apartheid, housing discrimination, ongoing physical and mental trauma.

— Ensuring access and control of food sources, housing and land.

— Retroactive decriminalization of sex and drug crimes.

— Release all incarcerated drug related and sex offenders.

— Reparations for the devastating impact of the war on drugs.

— Funding for restorative services, mental health services, job programs and other programs supporting those impacted by laws against prostitution and illegal drug use.

— Universal health care with specific services for queer, gender nonconforming, and trans people, full bodily autonomy, full reproductive services, mental health services, paid parental leave, and comprehensive quality child and elder care.

— Divestment from use of fossil fuels in favor of sustainable energy solutions.

— Divestment from Israel to halt their genocide program against the Palestinian people.

The journalist concluded that in its dishonest weakening of public trust in the police Black Lives Matter weakens the very foundations of our country.
